THE SCORE CARD OF EZZA SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT EDUCATION AUTHORITY BETWEEN 2015 AND 2018.

We present the achievements recorded in Ezza South Local Government Education Authority between 2015 and 2018

(1)a. Supervision:
The following levels of supervision were conducted to ensure effective and efficient teaching and learning in the Local Education Authority
i. Effective re-opening of schools at the beginning of each term.
ii. Embarking on spot checks at least twice each term.
iii. Full management supervision once every term.
(l)b. Monitoring of Examinations:
The following levels of Examinations were monitored by the Local Education Authority to ensure free and fair examination conditions.
i. Termly and promotion examinations.
ii. First School Leaving Certificate and Basic Certificate Examinations.

(2) Extra Curricular Activities:
a. Sports: The Local Government Education Authority organized intra and inter school sports competitions regularly aimed at ensuring the children’s physical fitness and competence in sports. The Local Government Education Authority in conjunction with other Local Education Authorities within Ebonyi Central Zone won the 2016/2017 Academic year’s State football sports Jamboree.
b. Debate:
i. The Local Government Education Authority won first position and also produced the best speaker, Master Okah Ernest in the 2017 Governor’s Centenary Primary School debate.
ii. The Local Government Education Authority won the 2″ position in His Excellency’s 2018 Primary School Centenary debate competition and produced the best speaker, Miss Nworie Chidera at the Championship.
Lafarge’s Spelling BEE competition:
The Local Government Education Authority produced Miss Nworie Naomi Chinenye who won the best girl that represented Ebonyi State at Enugu

(3) Provision of Teaching Materials:
The Local Government Education Authority ensured the provision of instructional materials to primary schools and junior secondary schools within the area by ensuring speedy collection of such materials meant for the Local Government Education Authority by philanthropists (LGA Chairmen and DC Coordinators), SUBEB and UBEC. Such materials include (i) chalk (ii) text books (iii) magnetic white boards (iv) laptops (v) desks and table etc. Moreover, the Executive Chairman of Ezza South Hon. Chief Sunday Ogodo (JP) has on yearly basis since Assumption of office donated customized exercise books for pupils and teachers, and also renovated some dilapidated school buildings.

(4) Re-training of Teachers:
The Local Government Education Authority on yearly basis organized workshop for teachers where teachers who were more proficient in some areas of studies were called upon to serve as resource persons.
The Local Government Education Authority as well co-joined with SUBEB and UBEC in the organization and implementation of such workshops, cluster workshop, UNICEF organized workshops etc. Such workshops have gone a long way in enhancing teachers’ efficiency in their job.

(5) Resolution of Conflicts:
The Administration of the Local Government Education Authority ensured peaceful co-existence amongst member staff by punishing erring staff and rewarding the excellent ones.

The Local Government Authority recently constituted a committee on the aegis of PTA Executive members. The committee went to schools where they were cases of land encroachment and saw to their amicable resolutions. The most recent ones include:
i) Land encroachment at CPS Ndiaguazu Nsokkara
ii) CPS Igweledeoha Ameka
iii) Urban PS I & II Onueke
iv) CPS Amajim Ameka
v) CCS Ezzama, among others.

(6) Welfare of Staff:
i. The incumbent secretary of the Local Government Education Authority has succeeded in relocating the office of the Local Government Education Authority from the dilapidated building she was occupying to a sound and befitting office complex. He has also furnished the education secretary’s office with executive, table and chairs, computers sets and also given face lift furnishing to some other offices in the Local Education Authority.
ii. The Local Government Education Authority organized thrift savings where members in need collected low interest loan and refund on demand.
iii. The NASU of the Local Government Education Authority were able to purchase fifty plastic chairs for use in the offices.
iv. The Local Government Education Authority organized prayers every Monday to begin the weekly activities with God for non tutorial staff of the Local Government Education Authority and general prayers for all staff of the Local Education Authority on termly basis.
In line with His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi’s Agricultural Revolution Policy, the Local Education Authority has embarked on aggressive school farming programme, with its intensive monitoring and evaluation.

On this note, we wish to appreciate God on the journey so far, applaud our education friendly Governor, Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE, FNATE, the indefatigable commissioner for education, Rt Hon. Chief Sabinus Nwankwegu, the workaholic Chairman of Ebonyi State Universal Basic Education Board (EBSUBEB), High Chief Hyacinth E. Ikpor and the Education minded Executive Chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Sunday Ogodo (JP), not forgetting my ever cooperating and hard working staff whom God has used to make the above achievements possible.
