THE FEATS OF EB-SUBEB ADMINISTRATION AND SUPPLIES DEPARTMENT FROM 2015 TO DATE
Bulk of duty of the Administration and Supplies Department of Ebonyi State Universal Basic Education Board centers on general administration, staff control, welfare provision and general discipline of staff of the basic education sub-sector.
It is interesting to note that the department based on the full support and leadership of High Chief Hyacinth Ikpor (KSJI) has performed maximally, geared towards achieving the core values of Civil Service such as honesty, integrity, punctuality, personnel discipline, among others.
The Department has not relented in her effort to discharge her statutory functions, no matter how agog they may be at times.
Promotion of staff is an obvious motivational factor in civil service. The department since 2015 to date has organized and completed the promotion of tutorial and non-tutorial staff of the Board Employ with full implementation of the financial effects through the courtesy of His Excellency, Engr. STAFF CONTROL AND DISCIPLINE
The Department rose to the occasion of ensuring discipline among the staff in areas of effective attendance to duties, retention in duty post and compliance to due process in exercise of statutory roles.
Staff retirement as sole responsibility of Administration and Supplies department could be by length of service at 35 years or by age of 60 years.
It is pertinent to know that the department has witnessed the retirement of about four hundred and eighty (480) staff since 2015 to date and the retirees are already enjoying their retirement benefits, courtesy of State Worker friendly Governor.
CONFIRMATION OF APPOINTMENT:
It could be recalled that the last recruitment in the basic education sub-sector was in 2012. The department has confirmed them as regular and genuine staff after they had completed their probation period of service.
In an effort to achieve administrative efficiency in the state basic education system, the department has ensured the movement of staff from one duty post to another where their services are needed most. Transfer of staff in accordance with civil service rule is done based on need, staff length of stay in a particular duty post or on request, considering the importance. Transfer is categorized into intra-local government, inter-local government and inter-state transfer.
The saying that cleanliness is next to godliness is true of the administrative function of Ebonyi SUBEB in ensuring that the Board offices and surrounding are not unclean.
The effort of the department to keep the Board clean has continued to attract on-lookers as the best place of work in the state.
